The Tsunami Society will hold its Fourth International Tsunami Symposium in July 25 - 29, 2010, in Toronto, Canada, in conjunction and mutual co-sponsorship with the 9th US National & 10th Canadian Conference on Earthquake Engineering. The deadline for submission of Abstracts is August 31, 2009. Please submit abstracts to: TSUNAMISOCIETY@HAWAIIANTEL.NET
As of October 1, 2009, the Tsunami Society has received papers for the Fourth International Tsunami Symposium in Toronto, Canada, from scientists working at universities and organizations in the following countries:
ALGERIA, AUSTRIA, CANADA, CHILE, FRANCE, GERMANY, INDIA, INDONESIA, ITALY, JAPAN, MEXICO, MOROCCO, NEW ZEALAND, PUERTO, RICO, PORTUGAL, RUSSIA, SAUDI ARABIA, SINGAPORE, SRI LANKA, THAILAND, TURKEY, UNITED KINGDOM and USA.
List of Universities and Institutions of scientists who have submitted abstracts for presentation at the FOURTH INTERNATIONAL TSUNAMI SYMPOSIUM IN TORONTO, in conjunction and mutual co-sponsorship with the 9th US National & 10th Canadian Conference on Earthquake Engineering. Good command in English (both written and oral); 6. Shaking table tests experience (preferred); 7. Need to help in research project management, professional activities, and supervision of FYP students

24TH International Tsunami Symposium of the IUGG Tsunami Commission and Technical Workshop on Tsunami Measurements and Real-Time Detection, Novosibirsk, Russia, July 14-17, 2009 (COMPLETED)
The meeting included a 3-day Research Symposium covering all the basic aspects of the tsunami problem and 1-day Technical Workshop on Tsunami Measurements and Real-Time Detection - jointly sponsored by the IUGG Tsunami Commission (IUGG/TC), the National Geophysical Data Center (NGDC) NOAA and the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC) UNESCO.

2009 China Cross-Straits Symposium on the Prevention and Mitigation of Natural Hazards - 19-20 JUNE 2009, FUZHOY, CHINA (Completed)

The Symposium was held in China's south-eastern coastal city of Fuzhou, in Fujian Province from the 19th to 20th June 2009. It was sponsored by the China International Talent Exchange Foundation, the Taiwan K.T.Li Foundation for the Development of Science and Technology, the National Taiwan University, the Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs, the Department of Water Resources, the Meteorological Administration, the Earthquake Administration of Fujian Province and the Tsunami Society, and had the strong support of China's National Natural Science Foundation. The objective of the two-day Symposium was to have in-depth communications and discussions on how to effectively mitigate the impact of natural hazards such as typhoons, earthquakes and tsunamis.
